EXERCISE #2: "NOTEWORTHY.../...PLEASE CONSIDER"
Additionally, participants were requested to comment on the following:
"What is noteworthy in terms of your project?"
"They were then given the opportunity to ask us, "Please consider..."
Due to the length of the entries, a separate page has been allocated to each college's submissions:
CASCADIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE:
--Thank you for welcoming me to this opportunity to engage in this conversation and to be exposed to amazing people and speakers who will positively affect my students' learning via my own professional development.
--I have taught community college in two other states
and this state's support for professional development for community college faculty is far and away the highest I have experienced. I do not know if it is the system, state funding, grant funding, motivated people, or a combination of all of the above, but I have developed more in my single year in Washington than in the five years I spent teaching community college in Nevada and Colorado.
...Continuing to encourage all participants to document and share their work online so that everyone
can benefit from this valuable project. Anything that
can be done to streamline recording the corpus of work as it continues to grow would be most helpful.
--The presentations were informative for me as a newcomer to this scene - CATs; FIGs; Classroom Exchanges.
--Copious team time is/was appreciated - I think we had productive, unhurried planning discussions.
--I want to thank you for the invitation to participate in this institute as a guest institution!
...asking presenters to include interactive presentations, if possible. (I will be more sensitive to my own classroom presentation lengths.)
--The opportunity to connect with other institutions to find out about their work and goals.
--The wonderful professional development on Faculty Inquiry groups and time to develop a plan for our FIG beginning this fall.
--The exposure to CATs and Classroom Exchanges and tools to use with our FIG - we plan to use both.
--The time to get to know/bond/learn from/etc. my fellow teammates in a gorgeous, distraction-free setting.
--Thanks for inviting us to be here - I really valued the experience.
...keeping us connected to all this work - we are really committed to better serving our developmental students.
